Cost Savings Projects
| 1. | I was General Manager of one division in London in a turnaround situation at Network Si. (This was a hive off from the well known ACT computers). This company was £8 million in debt and we turned this round to £8 million profit which is what the company was sold for 2 years later to a South African plc. I put equity in after a year, which is when the Venture Capital Company decided to back the turnaround. It had sacked the previous board of Directors and brought new blood in to turn the company round and I was one of the new General Managers appointed. |
| 2. | At American Express I saved $12 million in negative float costs by examining the world-wide shipment procedures and shaving time off them at no extra cost. |
| 3. | At Digital Equipment Corporation I saved £1.8 million per annum in Contractor Staff Fees throughout the UK by examining which agencies were being used and cutting them down to a dozen. |
| 4. | At Digital Equipment Corporation I inherited a project that looked innocent on the P & L. However, on investigation, I found that it was a 16 year project with 8 more years to run. I renegotiated the contract with a Major Bank and a Supplier in Bristol and saved £6 million for legal costs of only £15,000. |
| 5. | At Network Si, I negotiated the movement of a major contract with an out of court settlement of £180,000 and the TUPE transfer of 65 staff saving a hefty staff bill and redundancies, all for a legal fees cost of £30,000. |
