John R. Knight has returned from Spain after 8 years and has joined NXD as a non-Executive member.  John is now based in the centre of Manchester and will be renewing contact with his wide network of friends and business associates here in the UK.

NXD is a UK network of experienced MD’s and CEO’s who provide Non Executive Director services, independent expertise and support to small and medium enterprises to add value and help business owner’s/managers meet their goals and deliver their business vision.

The primary role of an NXD member is to act as an experienced sounding board from outside the day to day management of the client business. This is often where our involvement starts working with the business leader and/or the executive team to develop vision, strategy and planning and help open doors that might otherwise be closed to them. 

Our other services include leadership coaching, short term interim management and preparing the business for the next step – funding, exit or sale.   We have non-executives with diverse and deep experience from a range of sectors and each appointment is tailored to match the requirements of the client.  Our members are sufficiently flexible that we can work with the client in a way that suits their business, from the infrequent monthly board meeting, through to providing interim management services.

Our primary goal is to add REAL business value in everything we do, and we operate throughout the UK and on occasion in Europe, or further afield.

This will be mainly in IT, as his extensive background has been running IT outsourcing businesses and large multi-million pound IT projects.  He also took part in an IT company rescue, with a Management Buy Out, which was subsequently sold for £8.5 million.  Earlier in his career John ran the Europe, Middle East & Africa Data Centre and then subsequently ran a $66 million business in 8 countries for a well known, International credit card operator, developing Portugal from scratch.
